Accommodations and Transportation

If traveling from the airport, it will be necessary to take a taxi.

The KSSB has ample parking for those who are driving.  Below is an email sent to attendees August 5th.  Here is the map referred to in the communication.

Hello KC Mini-Conference Attendees,

We can’t wait to see you all a the mini-conference on Saturday!

Attached, please find a campus map of the Kansas State School for the Blind for your reference. When you enter off of State Street, the main parking area is to the left, behind the Irwin Administration Building (10 on the map). If this lot is full, additional parking is available by proceeding around to the other side of the Independent Living House (3 on the map).

Registration will be in the Johnson Lobby (8 on the map) beginning at 8:00am, with the first session beginning promptly at 8:30am.

Parents of our youngest attendees are asked to pack a bag or backpack of whatever items your child might need while s/he is away from you on Saturday (please label bag and items). Items might include:  any special food or drink, diapers and wipes, change of clothes, favorite toy or comfort item, and anything that might make your child(ren) more comfortable during a rest or nap if needed.

If you have any questions, please email kc@albinism.org and someone will get back to you just as soon as possible.

See you Saturday!

A block of rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express at The Legends.  You can book your room online at

The city bus has a line that goes from the hotel to the conference site.  Here is a link to the bus map and information.  Here is a google map with the route also.  Also, fares on the bus are $1.50, 75 cents if you show a Medicare card. We do not issue change, so I would recommend that riders have exact fare.

This hotel is located about 15 minutes by car from our conference site.  The Legends has many restaurants and shops including Cabellas and Nebraska Furniture World.  If you require transportation to or from the conference please contact
KC Noah Conference organizers.

There are some hotels closer to the conference.  One option is the Hilton Garden Inn, about 5 blocks from the conference site.  Taxis to the Kansas School for the Blind would be between 5 and 10 dollars from this location.  The location is in downtown Kansas City, Kansas, so there are limited nightlife and food options in the evenings and on weekends.  The Hilton Garden Inn does have a restaurant.
